Iron Man Mark IV Review

Welcome to my first toy review for Pladd Dot Toys. Having never done a proper toy review before, we will learn all of this together. I'll tell you though, if you find yourself doing a first toy review there is no better way to start than reviewing the Iron Man 2 Mark IV by Hot Toys. This is perhaps the best looking figure that I've ever personally owned....and I own A LOT of toys. Hasbro, Mattel, ToyBiz, Marvel Select, DC Direct, Gentle Giant, Sideshow, Medicom, etc.. This is the first Hot Toys figure I've owned and I'm amazed at the detail that they've put into this figure. If you're a serious collector and you've got the smack to lay down for a figure of this caliber then you won't be disappointed. Hot Toys has gone the extra mile in detail for this figure like no other company that I've ever bought from before. Enough talk, lets get going shall we.
The Iron Man 2 Mark IV comes in a nice looking package, but even so, it doesn't do the contents justice.
Once you slip the outer case off you'll find that the contents are well packed and everything is held securely in place. Another nice touch is that all the small pieces are easy to remove and you don't have to exert uncomfortable pressure to remove them from the packaging.
A big selling point for action figures in general, and especially on higher end toys such as this is accessories. Collectors like options....lots of options and IM2M4 (Iron Man 2 Mark IV) has no shortage of options. The plates on each arm can be replaced with the “ready for war” missiles exposed. Be careful when switching these out as the potential for breakage is definitely there. No less than four sets of hands are included; open hand, open hand with jointed fingers (yes you can make the figure flip someone off...ya bunch of ten year olds), open hand in repulsor firing action, and closed fist. I tried out these different hands and they pull on and off very easily and the stud on the arm is thick enough to take repeated changing. Still be careful each time.
The coolest feature of IM2M4 is the light up feature. This figure features four separate lighting sources, each complete with their own battery source. The eyes, the chest and each hand lights up. It is so freaking awesome, especially the chest. It is so bright that none of my amateurish pictures do it any justice. Note, all the lights work on my figure but I did have to open each battery cover and secure the batteries back into place...no problems since then. If you should have to do the same make sure you are using a phillips head screwdriver that is small enough not to strip out the screw head.
Now its time for the pictures to do the talking...1000 words and all that. Note that the IM2M4 comes with two figure stands (both are cool) and just note the amazing detail on Tony Stark's face. The human face is the hardest thing to sculpt and make look lifelike and this is one of the best I've ever seen. Finally, something I only noticed when I was snapping the pics is that you can see Tony Stark's eyes behind the mask. Incredible.
In conclusion, Iron Man 2 Mark IV is one incredible figure. Hot Toys has done an amazing job of creating a figure of astounding detail and awesomeness. If you're lucky enough to purchase one then welcome to the club. There's not many of us but oh do we have good taste.
