December/07/2017 11:59 PM Filed in: Blog
As many of you know, the sole purpose of Pladd Toys is to donate toys to children in need. 2017 Marked our MOST SUCCESSFUL TOY DRIVE EVER!!! Thanks to all of you who bought from Pladd Toys on eBay or on this website this year! You all contributed to a child in need having a present under their tree this year. THANK YOU SOOOOOOO MUCH!
I'll just let the pictures (and the toys) do the talking. See if you can spot anything in there from your childhood! Read More...
Hot Toys Wonderwoman Review
November/12/2017 11:56 PM Filed in: Toy Reviews
Let me just start by offering a full disclaimer—Wonder Woman was my favorite DC movie so far. I felt like Warner Brothers really pulled the stops out with this one. Gal Gadot's acting was fantastic, she looked the part, and let's face it—that iconic shield / trench scene with machine gun fire was probably the most badass thing to hit the screen in a long, long time. Truly epic!
That being said, I love this figure just as much! Let's jump to the review! Read More...
Hot Toys Daredevil and Punisher Review
November/02/2017 11:11 PM Filed in: Toy Reviews
Okay. I know it's been a GOD AWEFUL LONG TIME since I've done a toy review. I have no excuse except for the fact that I run six companies, teach music, manage 20 employees, started developing new software, and have been working hard on finishing my new album. Aside from that—no excuses.
Anyway, let's start this out with this thought:
IT'S BEEN AN AMAZING YEAR FOR TELEVISION!
With the advent of streaming services like Netflix getting into television production, I have to say that it's got to be television's new golden age. Let's face it, Daredevil, Luke Cage, Jessica Jones, Iron Fist, and STRANGER THINGS are collectively some of the best television that we've ever seen. The acting, directing, longer story line development, and special effects have really ushered in a new age of TV that we just haven't seen the likes of before.
That being said, I thought I would do this review about the new Daredevil and Punisher figures. Daredevil is the show that got me hooked on Netflix as a production company. It was the first show that I ever binge watched and I was hurting from lack of sleep (as I am right now recovering from Stranger Things season 2). Read More...
Christmas 1986
May/28/2017 10:56 AM Filed in: Blog
I wrote this for my personal blog this past Christmas. I decided to publish it here as well so that people have some insight as to why we do what we do.
Christmas 1986
There are moments in time that define you. There are events that happen in your life that shape who you are and that put an imprint so deep in your soul that you’ll carry that mark forever.
For me, that moment was Christmas 1986.
Hard to believe it was thirty years ago. Before we make it to Christmas, let me give you a little background… Read More...
2015 Toy Drive
December/17/2015 11:05 PM Filed in: Blog
The 2015 Toy Drive was a HUGE HIT this year! Thank you to all of the Pladd Dot Toys customers and employees that made this such a huge success!
For those of you who don't know, when you purchase a toy from this website (or our eBay store), we donate 100% of the profits to our local sheriff's department for the distribution of toys through the community to families in need. Instead of me blabbing on about what we do, I'll just let the photos do the talking!
This year we filled SEVEN SHOPPING CARTS!!!

The Day I Fell in Love with Star Wars
November/15/2015 02:53 PM Filed in: Blog
Okay…. I don't know the DATE - but I do know the DAY.
I was six years old. My big brother's friend David came to our house to pick up my brother for a jam session or something (they were both budding musicians) and took us back to his house because I'm assuming that's where the drums were… Evidently I was along for the ride this time. When we got there, I met Michael - David's younger brother. He was closer to my age and wanted to show me some "cool stuff" in his room.
Michael showed me his room and I remember seeing the most amazing thing I'd ever seen. A magical 3.75" piece of white and black molded plastic that burned an impression in my mind that I remember to this day.
He called it a "Stormtrooper". I had never heard that word before but it didn't matter.
I knew that I'd never forget it. Read More...
Hot Toys T-800 Terminator
December/14/2012 11:23 PM Filed in: Toy Reviews
In this review, we take on the new Hot Toys T-800 Terminator figure. This is a great figure and I think it’s well worth the money. I’m a huge Hot Toys fan and I’ve been wanting something Terminator to add to my collection. This of course allows me to scratch both itches. Instead of giving you a long intro, let’s get to the review!

Gi Joe Airtight

In this toy review, we cover Airtight, or “Kurt Schnurr”. Airtight was one of my favorite GI Joes as a kid because it was one of the few GI Joes (not Cobras) with a sweet mask. His mask was similar to “Copperhead”, the Water Moccasin driver. And when it came to masks, Cobra had the best. From the Vipers, Wild Weasel, Frogmen, Firefly, and all the way up to Cobra Commander, Cobra had all of the coolest masks. Airtight was one of the few Joes that stood out among the crowd.
Although his history is a bit ambiguous (like why is an environmental specialist giving safety advice when someone from the medical profession (like Lifeline) would be a better choice), there’s no denying that he was always a cool looking figure.

The Two Indys

In this toy review, we’re going to take a look at the two Indys. At least two of the most recent (and popular) Indiana Jones collectible figures. We’re going to take a fair look at both the Sideshow Indiana Jones figure and the recently released Hot Toys Indiana Jones Deluxe figure. I tried to get the images as large as I could (while maintaining space for text) so if you’re on dial-up…. well…. you just shouldn’t be on dial-up.

Toys and Art

This blog is about my obsession with toys. No–let me more rephrase that and say toys that happen to be high art. I realize that many people might disagree with me on that point but I plan to change your mind in this article.
Most of you know that I'm a huge toy collector. I've always loved toys. Even as a child, I didn't want every toy on the market, but rather the ones that I thought were aesthetically pleasing. I would pass over a toy that was popular because it just didn't look cool to me. My GI JOE army was a strange amalgam of good guys, bad guys, and toys that I took apart to re-assemble in a fashion that I thought was best. Certain heads just didn't look right on certain bodies and some arms and torsos worked better on a different set of legs. By the time I got done compiling my forces, they pretty much all worked for a unified "Army of the Cool" and usually fought against a potpourri of the worst figures I'd get as a gift (the ones I didn't pick out for myself). Iron Man Mark IV Review

By: Rob
Welcome to my first toy review for Pladd Dot Toys. Having never done a proper toy review before, we will learn all of this together. I'll tell you though, if you find yourself doing a first toy review there is no better way to start than reviewing the Iron Man 2 Mark IV by Hot Toys. This is perhaps the best looking figure that I've ever personally owned....and I own A LOT of toys. Hasbro, Mattel, ToyBiz, Marvel Select, DC Direct, Gentle Giant, Sideshow, Medicom, etc.. This is the first Hot Toys figure I've owned and I'm amazed at the detail that they've put into this figure. If you're a serious collector and you've got the smack to lay down for a figure of this caliber then you won't be disappointed. Hot Toys has gone the extra mile in detail for this figure like no other company that I've ever bought from before. Enough talk, lets get going shall we.
The Iron Man 2 Mark IV comes in a nice looking package, but even so, it doesn't do the contents justice. Read More...
